Description This videotape contains interviews with Sam Gonzales and Michael Murphy. Sam Gonzales was the Chief of Police for the Oklahoma City Police Department at the time of the bombing. Micheal Murphy worked for EMSA at the time of the bombing. This tape continues 3844.17.

Sam Gonzalez discusses terrorism in America, preparedness, prevention; Oklahoma Standard; maintaining normal police operations after the bombing; diminished crime levels following the bombing; speculation about McVeigh's choice of the Murrah Building as a target; reasons for the drop in crime; Chief Marrs; City Manager Don Bown; Mayor Ron Norick; cooperation between civil government and emergency personnel; financial side of the rescue and recovery effort; integrity of the crime scene versus needs of the community; 52 arrests around the Murrah Building, public intoxication, felony theft, trespassing.

Michael Murphy discusses the events of April 19, 1995, working at EMSA headquarters, feeling the shock wave, glass windows blown out, seeing the smoke rising downtown; deploying resources to the bomb site; heading downtown; victims from the Journal Record Building; radio traffic; Emmetsburg emergency training; emergency planning; treating patients on the north and south of the Murrah Building; trying to maintain a single triage area at 6th and Robinson; decisions made in triage; marshaling resources.
