Description This is a videotaped interview with Captain Daniel Bickham of Fairfax Fire and Rescue. He is a member of OFDA and FEMA USAR Team. He discusses FEMA, USAR Teams, learning about the bombing, activation of the team on April 20, 1995; preparing for the rescue and recovery work; deploying to Oklahoma City; emotionally preparing for the work, thoughts of the children involved; arrival, magnitude of the devastation, maintaining safety of the USAR Team, damage around the site; coordinating with other teams; working on the north side of the building, the Pile, checking for survivors in the void spaces before moving concrete; safety procedures; Incident Command System, working with the OCFD; removing debris; heavy crane and equipment operators; hopes for live rescues, switching to body recovery operations, differences between; removing OCFD member's daughter; previous work overseas; information work, determining where victims were; Myriad Hospitality Center; work after the shifts.
