| This banner was found on the grounds after a wind storm on June 12, 2005. The original banner was signed on Armed Services Day, May 15, 2004, in New York City.
The banner bears the names of victims from the attacks of September 11th, 2001. The names are listed alphabetically in white on a blue background. The names of victims from the Oklahoma City bombing are listed alphabetically. Around the edges are lithographed signatures which were added to the original banner before printing. Printed in black at bottom is the message "We are United In Spirit, Oklahoma City, New York City, Shanksville, Washington, D.C. This design was created for the Oklahoma City National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism by ArtAid in collaboration with September's Mission in New York City. Together we honor the innocent lives lost to terrorism in the February 26, 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, the Murrah Federal Building bombing of April 19, 1995 in Oklahoma City, and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at the world Trade Center in New York City, Shanksville and Washington, D.C. United in Spirit We shall overcome these tragic events to create a safer society free from the effects of terrorism." |
