Description
The message that accompanies this model reads "Tom Hawthorne had this boat since he was a teenager. I miss you!, Love, Donna." It was removed from Tom Hawthorne's chair on April 22, 2005, shortly after the Tenth Anniversary, April 19, 2005. During a 2006 visit to the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, Mrs. Hawthorne, Tom's mother, told the history of the ship. She and her husband bought it in Solomons, Maryland in the early 1950s. Tom had always loved it and when he married, he asked his parents if he could take it with him to his new home. Tom's wife, Donna, put the ship on his chair for the Tenth Anniversary.
