This videotape includes an interview with Jeannine Gist, mother of Army recruiter and bombing victim Karen Carr. Jeannine discusses her memories of April 19, 1995. including the sound of the bomb, the early confusion, and waiting for news at St. Anthony's hospital. It would be 10 days before the family learned Karen's fate. Jeannine also discusses the prayer service on April 23rd and the inappropriateness of the phrase "Let the healing begin." She speaks about the importance of showing support for those grieving, the difficulties she faced in the first year after the bombing, the emotional impact, her retirement in 1997, the pain of losing a child, the importance of family support, the importance of educating people about violence and democracy. Lastly, she talks about dealing with important anniversaries, the support from her church, setting up a memorial scholarship, the pain of identifying her daughter's body, the funeral, and the circumstances of Karen's death and the ones who found her.
