Description This videotape includes an interview with Stephen Sloan, terrorism expert and emeritus faculty at the University of Oklahoma. He discusses feeling the initial blast on April 19, 1995, figuring out what was happening, going downtown, agreeing to work with local media, helping the community to understand the nature of terrorism, using analysis as a coping mechanism, the rush to judgment regarding Middle-Eastern involvement and the rumors about culpability, dealing with media, assistance from the community, the danger of a "quest for culpability," rescue professionals and volunteers from different parts of the country, the study of domestic and international terrorism, study on local terrorism in 1980 listing Federal buildings as the third tier of domestic targets, research on different organizations, soft target versus hard target, emotional impact on the nation, domestic militia movements, terrorist strategy, understanding terror and the manipulation of terror, consulting on Timothy McVeigh's defense, attempting to dispel conspiracy theories.
