Description
|
| This quilt is made of six rows of seven 17" x 16" blocks. At the center in red lettering is "Oklahoma City" above a stuffed brown teddy bear with white lettering on a red heart that reads "We Love You, Too." The title of the quilt is "No Man is An Island." Each block has been decorated with various media including buttons, felt, feathers, sequins, etc. The quilt was made by students at Public School 231K in Brooklyn, New York, in response to Project Hope Bear, which sent Hope Bears from Oklahoma City to children in New York City after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. A letter accompanying the quilt, written by Pamela Hutto, reads "Your teddy bears, cards and words touched us, inspired us and gave us the courage we needed as a school community during this tragic time." |
