Description
Jeannette Axtell's 5th Grade class at Beverly Elementary of Lynnwood, Washington, made approximately 1000 paper origami cranes. The majority are made of solid bright colors with a white backing; mostly primary colors with a few grey, black, and pastel. There are also a few silver foil cranes, some patterned, and some that have been drawn on before folding. The cranes are of various sizes, but the majority are about 6 inches from wing tip to wing tip. Paper cranes are included in the Hope Trunks as a part of the book "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes." In the book, paper cranes are used as a means to keep loved ones from dying, and ultimately for memorializing those who have passed on.
