Description
Medals like this one were awarded to those participating in the Fifth Annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. It is etched with the words "5th Annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon," the image of the Survivor Tree and the words "April 24 2005 Half Marathon." This medal was dedicated to Tylor Eaves. Some runners chose to run in honor of a victim, and often leave tokens behind on the chairs as a way of paying tribute to those for whom they have run. A medallion such as this represents the end result of a great deal of work and preparation on the part of the runner, and to leave it behind represents a sizable emotional sacrifice.
