| This videotape continues an interview with Dan Helmuth of the Oklahoma City Fire Department. Dan discusses his experiences in dealing with the aftermath of the bombing. He describes the scene immediately after the bombing, triage, putting out the fires, Journal Record Building, bomb scare, digging through the basement, receiving three evacuation orders, leaving the basement and the woman they were trying to help, being ordered out, feelings of disappointment, leaving, rain, evidence collection, coming to terms with his part in the recovery, his initial detachment and the eventual realization that he knew people in the credit union, having to work during the memorial services, participating in the anniversary ceremonies, losses to his friends, Susan Walton, the opportunity to learn from the events surrounding the bombing, the way in which the community came together. |
